SEVEN ROUNDS (2017)
Collectively approximately 1.5m x 1.5m x 15m
Individually approximately 1.5m x 1.5m x 0.5m
Seven Rounds is currently situated in the gardens of Picton Castle, Haverfordwest, South Wales, UK and will be a permanent fixture there for the foreseeable future.

'During a visit to the castle in January 2017, whilst walking around the grounds and gardens I noticed seven rounds and a tree stump to one side of a well-walked path. They were beautifully large in diameter and width, some of the largest ones were around 3.5ft by 1.5ft, their incredibly curvaceous shapes were so inviting, I just couldn't leave them to decay.'
'I subsequently borrowed six of the rounds and transported them back to the workshop where I began to clean and char them.'

A progression of patterns was added later using a free-hand electric router. 'I believed by taking the logs through these processes that they would be re-born and transformed from something decaying to something new and preserved'.
With their jet-black exterior and golden pattern, they stand out from the lush green foliage and could be admired by the visitors to the Castle.
